(1-23 of 23)It's an excellent way to secure your accounts
- The UI is simple and straightforward to use.
- Mobile software that is simple to use and trustworthy.
- Trusted to be up to date with the newest security procedures, it is regarded as a reliable source.
- Multi-device support would be a welcome addition.
- Improved renaming and organization options for code/accounts is a plus.
- Expanded platform support.
- Easy to Use
- Best UI
- Easy to add new accounts
- Does not seem as popular as other solutions like microsoft authenticator
- App has a lot of updates
- Interface could be filled up more
- Ease of use - users find it simple and intuitive to use.
- Lightweight - it's not a bulky app.
- Secure - it's trusted to stay up to date using the latest security protocols, etc.
- The UI could be prettied up a little - adding logos/icons to match the services.
- More flexibility to rename and reorganize the codes/accounts would be beneficial.
- "Favoriting" certain codes would make access easier - perhaps via 3D touch, say.
Secure, fast and easy to setup
- Easy to set up and transfer when switching between smartphones since it is linked to your Google account.
- Generates a random access key every few seconds which makes it safe and reliable.
- Very quick in validating and authenticating the key.
- Since the key updates every few seconds, we will have to wait for a new key to generate when the timer is almost running out for the current one.
- Easy to transfer accounts.
- Can use it to authenticate multiple tools.
- Scanning a QR code is all that is needed to set up and configure a new authenticator.
- Easy to take backups and sync in case the timing on the clock is not right.
Google Authenticator is fantastic!
- It gives you an extra layer of protection beyond a password.
- I love that it is an app on my phone so it is easily accessible from anywhere.
- It keeps all of my codes in one place.
- It runs on only a few platforms, specifically Android, iOS, and Blackberry and in my opinion it needs to be available on every platform that is out there.
- SA drawback I have noticed is that if you swap phones you have to blitz the entire app and go back and sync up all the accounts again which can be very frustrating for new users.
- It can also be risky ( for some ) having all all your data centralized in one place.
Get up and go with two-step verification
- Easy to setup and use.
- QR code scan ability.
- No issues have occurred.
- Password-less functionality.
- Ability to re-order codes.
- Ability to organize/ add folders.
- This application makes life easy because you need only one app for all the two-factor authentication requirements.
- It is extremely lightweight and needs no internet. This really helps when mobile runs out of network coverage due to some blind spots at office premises.
- You can manage multiple accounts with a single application. Adding this account is quite intuitive and easy. QR scan is also a great plus in this aspect.
- It does not have any option of cloud syncing. So, if you have multiple smart phones, you will have to setup same things on each smart phone. This is painful.
- There is no additional security for Google Authenticator like biometric[s] or [a] passcode. So, it makes the job of malware easy as the application is open. This is more serious for Android users.
- It adds trouble when you lose your device. The only way is to have your backup codes handy. Because of this reason, I stopped using it.
- Great user interface upon login.
- Adding accounts is simple.
- Love the QR code feature.
- The way it's set up you always need your phone on you.
- Lose your phone and you won't be able to get your authenticator account info back.
Good go-to, but there are better alternatives out there
- Easy to use.
- Compatible with any phone.
- Known provider that's easy to trust.
- Sync across devices in real time, to computer for example
- Allow exporting the data to be able to migrate to other apps
If you want some more advanced features I'd go with Authy, or another solution that offers stuff like sync, export, privacy-first focus etc.
Additionally, some services only allow the use of text messages, which is a shame.. But for those Google Authenticator (or any other app) won't work anyway.
A User's View of Google Authenticator
- One strength is in how it checks identity to stop unwanted people from getting access.
- Another strength is in cutting down on the frustration of users for the authentication process.
- With the pandemic and needing to work away from the office it also provided additional security in keeping our network/infrastructure safe.
- One thing that would help would be more information pertaining to changing of passwords. Sometimes those passwords and the requirements are not always known or remembered from time to time.
- Sometimes its frustrating to have to constantly acknowledge that you have signed in from another device or computer - which comes with the territory in our day and age - but maybe making it more user friendly to understand how to remember a device that you will use more than once.
Google Authenticator Review
- Backed up by a big name but bad performance in my experience
- I trusted because of the Google, disappointed
- I don't recommend Google authenticator to anyone
- It should be reviewed for use with cryptocurrency wallets
- Please make it user r friendly on iphone
- The options in settings should be the same in android and iphone
Great product overall
- The ability to use multiple software.
- Very easy to set up.
- Can be used on multiple devices.
- When you get a new iPhone it creates a duplicate for the same software, so you have to delete one. It does not do this with other phone brands in my experience.
- Functionality appears different on different types of devices.
No Frills or Excitement, but virtually perfect.
- Quickly add addresses using Barcode
- Easy to manage multiple addresses and sites in the console
- Make finding the barcode easier
- A customizable interface would be nicer than the standard one that’s available.
Don't make it 2 easy for hackers. Always use 2FA
- Ads an extra layer of protection for passwords.
- It is the most accepted 2FA app on all of the websites that I use.
- If you lose your phone, there is no way to transfer all of the 2FA codes to a new device if you lose yours. Some of the other 2FA apps have the capability of doing this.
- It is not foolproof. Especially because Chinese hackers just learned how to bypass all 2FA solutions.
Gets the job done, pros and cons.
- An extra layer of security for your user accounts
- The two-step verification can be a code from your phone or a USB drive as a security key
- Easy to use
- Once you lose access to your device you will be locked out of whatever accounts that you had set up to use with this app
- Can't transfer the codes to another device
Easy and Secure Authenticator
- Google Authenticator: easy deployment and integration with different platforms and applications.
- Ease of use from the user perspective.
- Backed by Google security and ISO compliance.
- Ability to import and save barcodes.
- Missing the ability to copy the code and use it within the different mobile apps within the specified time frame.
- Ability for administrators to push the code and manage user support.
Google Authenticator Does What You Need
- Easy to set up: this is helpful because no one likes trying to set up glitchy tools for something they know will make their lives harder.
- Compatible across numerous platforms: I can use it with email, with Salesforce, and I never have to worry if I'll need a secondary program.
- Easy to use: doesn't freeze up, works in real-time, and I never have to worry about missing a text for a confirmation code.
- I wish Google would work with partners more to make it easier to know if I can use Google Authenticator.
- This is lame but I wish the branding on the app reminded me more of Google than it does. I almost always go "where is this?" because I don't recognize the logo of the app.
- I'd love to see an "authorize app" button vs HAVING to put in the code. LastPass Authenticator has this and it's great.
Your one stop for mobile security
- Very easy and straight forward to use.
- Simple to install and set-up.
- Great security.
- May take some help from IT to get installed for less experienced users.
The future of authentication
- Easy to set-up.
- Easy to use.
- Easy to remove.
- Google Authentication is a brilliant tool that can be easily selected for use in most applications nowadays. This means it is easy to integrate into an existing IT environment.
- Transferring the account to a new phone is a bit complicated.
- Sharing an authentication code could be useful.
- Google Authenticator is fairly simple to use. The interface is intuitive and the setup process is easy, simply open and add an account. You can download the app and secure your accounts within 5 minutes.
- I like that authentication is fairly straightforward. In some cases, you may need to enter a six-digit code, but in many instances, it's a simple yes/no selection and someone can log into their account.
- The app itself is also fast, you barely notice any delay between setting it up and getting a 2FA confirmation. One of the beauties of 2FA apps like Google Authenticator is that you get near instant notification when asked to authenticate accounts.
- While I like that Google Authenticator is a 2FA app, I find that some websites need a different kind of authenticator like LastPass or Microsoft's Authenticator. It would be great if you could add all your sites into one app instead of having multiple apps.
- For 2FA to work effectively you need to have your phone on you. One thing I noticed is when you reset your phone or change phones, you have to create all your logins again and get codes for each one. It seems a bit tedious but if there was one account that I could sign into and then use for 2FA instead of losing all my information when I change phones or reset it.
Easy to configure and use 2 Step Verification
Google Authenticator uses TOTP (time-based OTP) and HOTP (HMAC based OTP) algorithms. The product is very reliable and easy to implement.
- Easy implementation: The product is very easy to implement both from embedding it into the application and from end users using it via their smartphones.
- You can use Google Authenticator to manage multiple two-factor authentication keys.
- Easy to add keys options: You can scan a QR code to set up 2FA in Google Authenticator. You can also do a manual entry using the unique key provided by the application you are setting up 2FA for.
- I once performed a factory reset of my smartphone which had Google Authenticator. I didn't have a backup for the device. When I restored my phone with the same google account, I was not able to restore the authenticator app settings. I had to add all the keys back into the app to use it. This is cumbersome, but I understand it is set up this way for security reasons.
- I don't like the ease with which it lets you delete a key. If I accidentally delete a key, I am doomed to get my 2FA key reset, unless I still have the QR code saved somewhere.
Google Authenticator easy to set up
- It’s very easy to configure.
- It’s very easy to manage if you have more than one account.
- It works without internet
- You can just sync an account with one device.
Google Authenticator works great for me.
- Ease of use. Simply open the app and codes are there for all my two-factor protected accounts.
- Having Google Authenticator as an app on my phone makes it really accessible.
- Easy set-up. I had the app up and running within 5 minutes.
- I have not come across any areas that need improvement for my use case.
